The acclaimed photographer, Thomas Mangelsen, posted this remarkable photo of her on his Facebook page. I’ve followed 610 since the summer of 2011, when she adopted one of three cubs from her mother’s litter in the Willow Flats basin of Grand Teton Park for reasons we can only imagine — a conflict with an adult male grizzly, the nature of the bond between daughter and mother, preservation of genetic ties, or simply altruism in a species widely considered to be solitary carnivores. © 2013 Thomas D.
